AAUW California currently has three (3) State Projects: Tech Trek, Speech Trek, and Gov Trek

AAUW California Tech Trek
Tech Trek is a summer camp for middle school girls that focuses on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Campers spend one week on a university campus – they live in the dorms, eat in the cafeteria, attend labs and classes, and learn what it might be like to be a college student. With the aim of encouraging girls to pursue STEM careers, the camp exposes them to a wide variety of STEM fields and occupations through hands-on experience in classes, workshops and demonstrations.
Donations to AAUW CA Tech Trek are tax deductible. Checks must be written to AAUW CA SPF, write Tech Trek in the memo line, including AAUW CA Branch and specific Tech Trek Camp (if applicable). If you wish to donate to a specific AAUW CA Tech Trek Camp by check, please mail the form to the specific Tech Trek Camp Treasurer. Speech Trek is an AAUW California Project that begins on the branch level with a speech tournament for local students and culminates with three top statewide finalists performing their five to six minute speeches at the AAUW California convention/annual meeting in April.

AAUW California Gov Trek
This virtual program for high school junior and senior girls is designed to elevate the next generation to pursue careers in public service and elected office. Over five two-hour sessions, students will engage in interactive and inspiring activities with exposure to women legislators, career options, and the inner workings of a political campaign. The program will culminate in a group competition to create a realistic campaign simulation.
Gov Trek is designed to address the paucity of women in the halls of power to consider careers in public service and elected office. One of the priorities of AAUW’s core mission is to inform and empower girls in an effort to close the gender gap in traditionally male-dominated fields.
